So...although this week has FLOWN by..it still feels like September is forever away. And as every person who has had a baby is well aware of what it's like..my emotions are all over the place..while i'm coming out of my skin excited at the same time I'm thinking holy crap. I can't do this.
Went to the Dr tuesday, had my gestational diabetes test...although the stuff didn't taste THAT horrible..the effect was not nice. very light headed/strong headache..wanted to throw up. when the dr came in the room she said "have you thrown up yet"..i said "no trying to keep it down" she said..."oh it's okay most people have thrown up by now"..i managed to keep it down and then got pricked 298547928 times trying to get my blood out. i still have a nice hard bruise from where she finally got blood. the babies heart beat sounded good..120's and 130's so it's getting lower which is normal.
I asked her if we were concerned about the babies size at all..she said not really the head was pretty much normal. and since i'm tall and my family is tall that we'll probably just have a tall baby. (i found out over the weekend that my dad was 19inches long 10 weeks early..holy cow.) she said she'd keep an eye on my stomach if it starts measuring too big then they'll do another u/s in a few weeks. strange isn't it..to talk about it in terms of weeks instead of months.
she does want to start doing non stress tests at about 32 weeks with the monitors..i'm assuming i'll have to go to the burg twice a week for that. kind of cool though, cause i'll get to listen to the babies heart for like 20 minutes!
i also start going every two weeks! yay!!!! the baby was pretty still after tuesdays appt, monday i felt it a lot, even while standing and then tue-thur it didn't move much...thur i had to drink apple juice to get it groovin..but it's been on the move today...almost making me sick to my stomach at times so that's GREAT!
i finished my part of the forms for grad school today. gave jason his reference sheet, will give ladies at work theirs on monday..and mail my stuff...*fingers crossed*
Your Baby
As the Big Day nears, your baby is getting ready to go towards the light at the end of the tunnel (the tunnel being the birth canal, the light being the one the doctor is shining directly into it so she can see what the heck she's doing). Other highlights this week:
Your baby's eyes are partially open now and can blink. Truly superior babies can actually wink. (OK, there is no way to prove that, but it's fun to imagine, no?) Your baby can also now become a shiny, happy person as she has begun having rapid eye movement (Get it? REM? Shiny, happy person?? We'll be here all week.)
Her eyes have color now, too. It may not be the color she ultimately ends up with, especially if they're light gray or blue. The eyes typically don't settle on a final hue until nine months after baby is born. So when your mother-in-law says that the baby has her eyes, you can politely inform her that they'll most likely change soon. Sorry.
Your babe is downright chubby compared to a few weeks ago. She is about 15 inches long, about the length of an amusement park cinnamon-sugar-coated churro (yum!), and weighs 2 to 3 pounds.
